We often talk about creativity like it’s the “easy subject” in life. The fun one. The one you don’t need to study for.

But here’s the truth: creativity isn’t just bursts of inspiration and pretty pictures—it’s planning, prioritising and persevering through the mundane. It’s showing up even when you don’t feel ready. It’s choosing to act, even when conditions aren’t perfect.

I want to share a season of my life with you—not because it was glamorous or particularly exciting—but because maybe, just maybe, you’ll see yourself in it.

I spent years being visited by amazing ideas. They’d light me up, get me giddy with possibility…

…and then they’d float away.

Just like that.

Maybe I didn’t think I was capable. Maybe I believed the timing wasn’t right.

Whatever it was, I let the moment pass—and with it, the opportunity.

The pain I’d feel later, watching another creator bring the exact same vision to life… It felt like a giant bird had taken a shit on my soul. Truly.

A direct reminder of what could have been if I had just acted.

Eventually, something shifted.

I stopped waiting for the perfect camera, the perfect setup, the perfect version of me.

And I started small.

DIY tasks in my home.

Repainting old furniture I found on Marketplace. Sanding, photographing, flipping it.

I was creating, yes—but more than that, I was building proof for myself. That I could do it.

That these hands, this mind, this body… could bring visions to life.

It spilled over. I looked at my room, felt uninspired—and changed it. Bit by bit. With what I had. Each little project wasn’t insignificant at all—they were bricks in the foundation of my belief.

And that belief?

It’s everything.

Because nothing feels more powerful than walking into a space and knowing:

“I created this.”

A room full of reminders that you are capable. That your ideas matter. That you followed through.

We’ve all had those brilliant, cinematic ideas in our mind’s eye. But how many of them do you actually honour with action?

Not the right camera?

Lighting off?

Skin acting up?

Life distracting you?

You’re not alone. But here’s the kicker: those excuses? They don’t build the life you’re dreaming of.

Do the best with what you have—and watch what you have get better.

Whether it’s your iPhone or a full-blown photoshoot, your message matters more than your medium. Bumpy skin? No one cares. Minimal time? Schedule it.

Creation is romanticised. But it’s not just fun—it’s work.

It’s discipline.

It’s carving out the time. Locking in.
